An attempt at a genuinely India-first GMT — one that treats Indian Standard Time as home rather than an afterthought. We're 30 minuts off from most of the world's time zones. The India GMT turns that bug into a feature, with a distinct minute hand that runs the full diameter of the dial.
A concept under development at Alag Watches.
The "main" hands in bold white default to Indian Standard Time.
IST sits at UTC+05:30, so every whole-hour zone is thirty minutes off — half a dial. The minute hand runs the full diameter, with so far tip lands on those minutes.
Read against the inner track, which is turned 7.5°, so the hand changes hour at India's half past — in step with the world.
Alag is Hindi for 'different'. We make watches that are fun, practical and stories worth telling.
Our first concept. It takes the half hour that separates Indian Standard Time from every whole-hour zone on earth from awkward to conversation-starter. One minute hand carried across the full diameter, a different tip at each end, reading home and away at the same time.
